COMPETITION TUBE w/LINER  · FAQ |
FAQQuestion 1:How much powder will the Competition Rubber Smith Tube hold? The Competition Rubber Smith Tube is a reduced capacity tube designed for target shooting. The volume is roughly equivalent to the standard reduced capacity black plastic tube or 0.14 cubic inches (2.3cc). This equates to approximately 39gr 2F, or 37gr 3F of black powder depending on the insertion depth of your bullet. Question 2:How many shots can I get out of one Competition Rubber Smith Tube? Life of a Competition Rubber Smith Tube varys depending on the gun, bullet weight, and powder charge. Typical life is over 30 shots. Failure is usually due to the flash hole liner coming out. Eventually the rubber breaks down enough to allow the liner to come out. Question 3:Do I need to cover the flash-hole with something to keep the powder from falling out? Typically you won't need anything to cover the hole. The diameter of the flash hole is around the same size as the average 3F granual size. Question 4:Will I need to re-sight in my gun to use these tubes? YES!, These tubes do not allow any gas to escape from the breach. As a result all the the gas pressure goes out the barrel with the bullet. This will result in the gun shooting high and increased "kick". Guns that we have re-sighted in typically use between 2 to 5gr less powder to get back to the same elevation. |
